Pumpkin (YT) canvas print | Yayoi Kusama Canvas Print | Yayoi Kusama Prints

Pumpkin (YT) canvas print by Yayoi Kusama — Pumpkin (YT) turns the artist’s favored vegetable into a coded, individually named composition. The repeated spots invite the viewer to trace the pumpkin’s ridges and the shifting sense of volume.

An individual pumpkin in a family of many

Kusama has described pumpkins as warm and endearingly human-like. The YT designation preserves this specific variant among a much wider family of related prints.

Pumpkin imagery and enduring affection

Growing up in Japan, Kusama encountered pumpkins among the plants around her family home. Their irregular ribs and rounded shape appealed to her, and their surfaces became ideal for the graphic contrasts and recurring dots that later defined many of her artworks.
