Pumpkin (RYSQ) poster by Yayoi Kusama explores a pumpkin design recorded under the distinctive RYSQ variant name. Inspired by the recognizable visual imagination of the Japanese contemporary artist, this poster creates an individual focal point for an art-led interior.

About the Artwork: Meaning & Analysis

The RYSQ designation separates this work from Kusama’s numerous yellow, red and dark-ground pumpkins. Her ongoing return to this subject expresses both experimentation and emotional attachment.

Visual Character and Composition

Curved organic contours contrast with the ordered beat of repeated surface marks. The motif feels at once friendly, eccentric and visually complex. The composition rewards a slower look at how the recognizable subject, its repeated forms and the negative space relate to one another.
