Infinity Nets (YBL) framed print by Yayoi Kusama — Infinity Nets (YBL) presents a particular coded variation of Kusama’s celebrated mesh motif. The pattern rewards slow looking, with the individual marks gradually merging into a continuous surface.

The closeness of marks and the vastness of space

Kusama has reworked nets over decades in paintings, prints and other forms. Retaining YBL in the title makes clear that this is not interchangeable with the other Infinity Nets images.

Inside the Infinity Nets

Kusama’s first monumental Infinity Net paintings appeared in New York at the end of the 1950s. Building a continuous surface from tiny repeated gestures, she challenged conventional approaches to abstract painting and opened up an expansive sense of time and space.
