Infinity Nets (1963) [Kusama 15] canvas print by Yayoi Kusama — This Infinity Nets image recalls the early period in which Kusama covered expanses of canvas with countless small, repeated loops. The resulting field seems to move beyond the visible edges rather than resolve into one central object.

Early nets and the idea of endless space

Kusama exhibited her first monumental white Infinity Nets in New York in 1959. The 1963 date and number 15 are retained from the uploaded filename, pending identification of the specific work.

Inside the Infinity Nets

Kusama’s first monumental Infinity Net paintings appeared in New York at the end of the 1950s. Building a continuous surface from tiny repeated gestures, she challenged conventional approaches to abstract painting and opened up an expansive sense of time and space.
