One mountain, seven emotional readings

The mountain’s recognizable outline unifies the portfolio, while the different color fields give each composition a separate emotional identity.

Artwork Background and Meaning

Created as a series of woodcuts in 2015 with the Adachi Institute, these works draw on Japanese printmaking tradition. Kusama supplied individual poetic titles that connect the landscape with love, memory, kindness and the universe.

Display Ideas

For a landscape-led display, place it where the horizon or flowing form has room to breathe, either alone or beside quieter works on paper.
