Infinity Nets [Kusama 51] poster by Yayoi Kusama — Infinity Nets [Kusama 51] explores Kusama’s Infinity Net as a field built from countless repeated marks. Instead of a traditional focal figure, the network itself becomes the subject: the eye moves from one interlocking unit to the next.

Repeating mesh and limitless space [Kusama 51]

The varying density of lines can make a flat surface seem to expand, contract or shimmer. This quality connects visual discipline with an impression of boundless space.

Artwork Background and Meaning

Kusama first established her Infinity Net painting language in New York in the late 1950s. Later print editions revisited its intricacy using different materials, compositions and tonal relationships.

Display Ideas

A minimal interior lets the eye linger on the repeated pattern, while a bolder gallery wall can amplify its optical movement.
