Infinity Nets B [Kusama 296] framed print by Yayoi Kusama — Infinity Nets B gives the repeated net a distinct identity through its B designation and catalogue-style number. The abstract field builds an all-over visual environment rather than arranging objects around a center.

A specific net within an extensive series

Kusama’s patterns connect labor, time and the sensation of a world without visible boundaries. Number 296 is retained from the image filename and should be cross-checked before adding a date.

Inside the Infinity Nets

Kusama’s first monumental Infinity Net paintings appeared in New York at the end of the 1950s. Building a continuous surface from tiny repeated gestures, she challenged conventional approaches to abstract painting and opened up an expansive sense of time and space.
