About the Artwork: Meaning & Analysis

Kusama’s flower imagery moves between tenderness and intensity, using the garden as a place to explore proliferation, growth and emotional expression.

Visual Character and Composition

The work emphasizes the relationship between individual blossoms and the overall pattern, so its floral subject feels both familiar and slightly otherworldly. The composition rewards a slower look at how the recognizable subject, its repeated forms and the negative space relate to one another.
